WAKING FROM THE DREAM OF DEATH

WAKING FROM THE DREAM OF DEATH

the substanciatión of the Mummies of Guanajuato

FROM THE VEDAS

“As is the atom, so is the universe; as is the microcosm, so is the macrocosm; as is the human body, so is the cosmic body; as is the human mind, so is the cosmic mind”

As an artist who has always been drawn to things that other people look away from, of course I was quite taken with the mummies of Guanajuato when I first moved to Mexico….they seemed trapped between earth and heaven in that they had never been allow to disintergate back into their essential makeup and join the natural order of things….

Recently I have been reading that research in astrobiology has determined that all the elements on earth, in ourselves, plants , oceans everything was cooked up over time by nuclear reactions inside stars….rather than the first instants of the Big Bang….

The iron in our blood, the calcium in our bones and the oxygen that we breathe are the ashes of stars that lived and died long ago….

In this present time on earth we tend to think of the cosmos as far beyond us and our lives …we forget that only a thin layer of atmosphere separates us from the rest of the universe…. ancient man felt  much closer to the cosmos because his view of it at night was unobstructed by any artificial  light, pollution etc….

Astrobiologists  have detected that phosphorous which is a critical component of our DNA as well as our teeth and bones is made in hypernova explosions which are even more powerful than supernovae, marking the death of massive stars and create the elements of life…

Interstellar  space is also where atoms unite to create molecules needed for life…up to half of the water on earth is older than the solar system itself…ancient  water molecules make up gigantic gas clouds that created our sun and planets and end up in our oceans and in our bodies….using  the vast network of radio dishes in the high plateaus in Chile astrobiologists have also found  the presence of amino acid structures in the farthest parts of the galaxy which are the basis of all proteins ….

Our death then is a breaking apart of our essential elements which return to the cosmos soup and will resurrect into new life over and over again….

It brought me back to the mummies who have been refused this process and through this series of prints I used their images and photos from the Hubble telescope and the Magellan telescopes in in Chile, attempting to return them back into deep space that is our mother…..

Natural Immortality makes people part of an eternal universe and the inevitable cycles of nature…..Hinduism perhaps comes closest to what scientific research is revealing about our origins…in Hinduism life can only be created by causing death, while death regenerates life…they believe that there is a link between the human body and the cosmos in that both are comprised of the same essential elements and ruled by the same laws……
